Convenience Store Showdown: Sheetz Targets Site Across from Wawa

3807 Lincoln Hwy, From Google Maps
CALN TWP ā Sheetz is advancing plans to open a new convenience store and gas station in Caln Township, marking a significant step into Wawa-dominated territory. The proposed development would transform a shuttered Rite Aid at 3807 East Lincoln Highway, placing the new store directly across the street from an existing Wawa at a busy intersection.
Based in Altoona, Sheetz has traditionally maintained a strong presence in central and western Pennsylvania. Its move into Chester County reflects broader efforts to expand its presence in the Greater Philadelphia region, where Wawa has long been the favored stop for food and fuel.
The site plan is currently under municipal review, and if approved, the project could set the stage for increased brand competition in the region.
Guided Walk Highlights Historic Mills and Forges on Struble Trail

DOWNINGTOWN, PA ā On Saturday, May 3, from 1 to 4 p.m., residents will have a chance to explore the industrial roots of the Struble Trail through a guided historical walk hosted by the Upper Uwchlan Historical Commission, the Uwchlan Township Historical Commission, and the Lionville Historic District.
The event will feature interpretive stations along a one-mile stretch of the trail, between the Dorlan Mill and Shelmire trailheads, where visitors can learn about the mills, forges, raceways, and local figures who shaped the area's development. Ranger Erb will also be on hand to help bring the history to life.
Attendees may park at either trailhead and explore the stations at their own pace. The event offers a rare opportunity to see the Struble Trail not just as a recreational path, but as a window into Chester Countyās early industrial history. Register online here
Expect Discolored Water During Upcoming Hydrant Flushing
DOWNINGTOWN, PA ā From April 21 through April 25, the Downingtown Municipal Water Authority will carry out its routine hydrant flushing between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. This twice-yearly maintenance process is essential for preserving the quality of the boroughās water supply and ensuring that fire hydrants remain fully operational.
As the system is flushed, some residents may experience temporary drops in water pressure or discolored water. Though the discoloration is harmless, households are advised to wait until their water runs clear before use. Those who rely on uninterrupted water service due to medical needs should alert the authority in advance by calling 610-269-5362.
