Chester County Joins National Effort Honoring Paul Revere’s Ride

WEST CHESTER, PA — In advance of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, Chester County will take part in “Two Lights for Tomorrow,” a national initiative that honors the symbolic start of the Revolutionary War. From April 17 to 20, the Historic Courthouse in West Chester will be illuminated with two lights, reflecting the historic lantern signal of Paul Revere’s midnight ride. The event invites all Americans to participate by placing two lights in their own windows on the evening of April 18 as a shared expression of remembrance and national unity.

COATESVILLE, PA — As part of Chester County’s continued outreach to its communities, the County Commissioners and County CEO David Byerman visited Freedom Village at Brandywine to share updates on a range of county services and programs. The event drew more than 200 residents, who engaged in a lively discussion with county leaders on topics including senior services, transportation, health resources, and public safety. The meeting fostered a sense of transparency and civic connection, reflecting the county’s broader efforts to keep residents informed and involved in shaping public policy.
Restoration Effort Continues at Johnsontown Park with Pollinator Garden Prep

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Johnsontown Park will again serve as a hub of ecological restoration this week, as Restore Our Roots leads a hands-on volunteer event to advance the creation of a native pollinator garden. The community-driven initiative focuses on sustainable land management, using natural methods like cardboard and leaf mulch to prepare soil while phasing out invasive species. Volunteers will remove Japanese pachysandra and introduce native golden groundsel in its place, helping to build a thriving habitat for pollinators and wildlife. Participants will also tend to tree saplings planted last fall. The project is backed by partnerships with the Pennsylvania Native Plant Society, Xerces Society, MSE Landscape Associates, and support from the Borough of Downingtown. RSVP Here if you’re available to help!
Springton Manor Opens Barn Doors for Guided Historical Tour

GLENMOORE, PA — On April 18th and 19th, Springton Manor Farm in Glenmoore will welcome visitors for a free guided tour of its historic Great Barn and surrounding complex. Originally part of a William Penn Manor, the farm has been in continuous agricultural use since the early 1700s. Guests will encounter animals such as donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens, and peacocks, while learning stories about the farm’s deep roots in Chester County history. The tour includes access to the Family Farm Museum, where seasonal tools and artifacts reveal how farming has evolved over the past 250 years.
