Downingtown Fall Fest Set for October 5; Vendor Applications Now Open

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Fall Fest is set to return on October 5, 2025, and vendor applications are now being accepted. Hosted by the Downingtown Area Chamber of Commerce, the juried event welcomes both general and food vendors to apply online by April 30. The selection committee will review all submissions based on a range of criteria, including vendor type, pricing, and community appeal. Decisions—whether accepted, waitlisted, or declined—will be issued by May 13. Organizers warn applicants to avoid scam solicitations on Facebook and only use the official website to apply.

900 Trees Planted in Big Elk Creek Watershed to Restore Former Tree Farm

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A reforestation project in the Big Elk Creek Watershed is bringing new life to land once used as a Christmas tree farm. Through a partnership between the property’s owner and the Chester County Conservation District, 900 native trees were recently planted to help the land recover from past agricultural use. The project is expected to create a thriving habitat for local wildlife, reduce runoff into nearby waterways, and absorb residual nutrients in the soil.

Kennett Square Cuts Ribbon on State-Funded Police Facility

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Kennett Square officials marked the official opening of the borough’s new police station with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday. The $4.2 million renovation project, located on South Broad Street, was designed to replace a deteriorating and outdated facility that had long been in need of upgrades. Now housing 14 full-time officers and additional borough personnel, the station offers expanded capacity and modern infrastructure to meet current and future needs.

Supported in part by a $2 million state redevelopment grant, the station features secure evidence storage, specialized holding areas, and private interview rooms for victims—improvements aimed at enhancing both operations and public trust. The building also integrates the borough’s Administration and Codes departments under one roof, improving service delivery to residents.Share the newsletter

West Chester Man Accused of Groping Passenger During Uber Ride

WEST CHESTER, PA — Robert Travers Corcoran, a 61-year-old West Chester resident and Uber driver, is headed to trial on charges of indecent assault and harassment following an alleged incident involving a female passenger in Whitpain Township. The episode, which took place in the early hours of February 10, began after Corcoran picked up the woman and her friend from a bar. Once the friend was dropped off, Corcoran allegedly asked the woman to move to the front seat, where he later groped her and made inappropriate comments.

The woman reported the encounter to police, who verified Corcoran’s identity through vehicle records and Uber documentation. During questioning, Corcoran admitted to the physical contact. He is currently free on $25,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment on May 14.
