Escaped Mini Horse in Chester County Adopted by Responding Officer

WEST GOSHEN TWP — A miniature horse named April escaped from a Chester County rescue and roamed several miles before ending up behind the West Goshen Police Station. Officers were able to gently corral her and bring her to safety. Sergeant Ted Lewis, one of the responding officers, bonded with the horse and later decided to adopt her, giving April a permanent home on a farm connected to his family. Though she still requires treatment for a minor facial injury, her future now looks bright and secure.

Art in the Park Returns to Caln Municipal Park This Summer

CALN TWP — This summer, Caln Township is inviting families to enjoy creativity in the great outdoors through Art in the Park, a free community art program hosted by the township’s Parks and Recreation department. The series will be held on select evenings from June to August at Caln Municipal Park. Open to all ages, the event features rotating art activities designed to inspire self-expression and appreciation for the natural surroundings. Adult supervision is required for children, but no registration is necessary. A special edition of the event will take place during National Night Out on August 5. The initiative is supported by One For All, which aims to foster community engagement through the arts.

Chester County Hosting Volunteer Tree Plantings for Earth and Arbor Days

ATGLEN, PA — To mark Earth Day and Arbor Day, the Chester County Parks and Preservation Department is inviting residents to take part in two community tree planting events. The first will be held at Warwick County Park on April 13, with a second opportunity at Wolf’s Hollow County Park on April 19. The initiative supports the county’s conservation goals while giving volunteers a chance to contribute to the long-term health and beauty of local green spaces. Registration is available online for those interested in lending a hand.

Chester County Sheriff’s Office to Host May Events for Community Engagement

WEST CHESTER, PA — This May, the Chester County Sheriff’s Office will hold two events focused on community engagement and education. On May 9, the department will offer Think Before You Post, a seminar at the Chester County Justice Center that addresses the risks and consequences of social media use, particularly for students and families. The free session encourages responsible digital behavior and requires registration.

The following week, Cupcakes with a Cop returns to Dia Doce Cupcakes in West Chester on May 16. The informal event, held in partnership with the West Chester Police Department, invites residents of all ages to enjoy complimentary cupcakes and casual conversations with local officers. The goal is to encourage open dialogue and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community. Registration is not required for this event.
