Nanny Sentenced After Pleading Guilty in Chester County Toddler’s Drowning Death

TREDYFFRIN TWP — Imani Lewis, a 38-year-old woman working as a nanny, has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the drowning death of a three-year-old boy in her care. The child wandered off at Wilson Farm Park in Tredyffrin Township on Labor Day 2024 and was later found in a retention pond. Despite rescue efforts, he could not be revived. Lewis was sentenced to 11.5 to 23 months in jail and, having already served more than six months, was granted immediate parole. She will be deported to Jamaica due to her expired visa. The child's family expressed support for Lewis’s release, stating they do not hold her accountable for the tragedy.

Trail Access Restored in Uwchlan as New Park Bridge Opens

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A newly completed bridge in Uwchlan Township is once again linking Dowlin Forge Park to the Struble Trail, offering a safer and more reliable path for pedestrians and cyclists. The previous bridge, which had deteriorated from age and weather, was removed earlier this year due to safety concerns. Township crews completed the full replacement this week, allowing the public to access the trail network ahead of the spring season. Thorndale Firehouse to Host Public CPR and STOP THE BLEED Class

THORNDALE, PA — In recognition of National EMS Week and STOP THE BLEED Month, local fire departments are inviting the public to a free emergency response training event on May 24, 2025. Hosted by Caln Township Firefighters, Thorndale Fire Company, and Minquas Fire Company No. 2, the session will offer hands-on instruction in CPR and bleeding control techniques. The training will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company on Lincoln Highway. The event is open to all, but registration is required and must be completed by May 16. Organizers hope the session will empower more community members to act quickly and confidently in life-threatening situations.
