Keep PA Beautiful Award Winners Recognized By Chester County Commissioners

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County Commissioners recently recognized two local award recipients for their environmental efforts as part of the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful 2024 awards. Dave Shirey was named Volunteer of the Year for organizing an annual cleanup that mobilizes over 100 volunteers across 80 sites in southern Chester County. Recycling Services Inc., based in North Coventry, received the Community Partner award for hosting and supporting a recycling initiative that processed more than 4,000 pounds of steel and 600 pounds of plastic campaign signs last fall. Both were nominated by Keep Chester County Beautiful and honored at a public meeting for their commitment to environmental stewardship and community collaboration.

Caln Township Opens Spring Chipping Registration April 1st

CALN TWP — Caln Township’s annual spring chipping program is set to begin May 1, offering residents a way to dispose of tree branches and yard debris. To participate, residents must call the Public Works Department (610.384.0600 ext.140) between April 1 and April 30 to be added to the service list. The program is limited to chipping branches that are no more than six inches in diameter, neatly arranged in no more than five piles at the curb. Stumps and oversized debris are not eligible. Each household is allotted 15 minutes of service, with no exceptions. The township urges residents to review the guidelines online to ensure their materials qualify for pickup.
