Downingtown Firefighters to Conduct Training Drill In Borough Wednesday
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Fire Department is set to conduct a training drill on March 19, utilizing vacant structures at the intersection of Brandywine Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. The exercise, running from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., is part of the department’s routine training to ensure volunteers are well-prepared for emergency situations.
Although no real fire will be present, a machine-generated smoke effect may be noticeable in the area. Officials emphasize that the smoke is harmless and should not cause concern.
Residents interested in learning more about the training are encouraged to stop by, where firefighters will be available to explain the purpose of the exercise and how it helps them respond effectively in real-life emergencies.

Help Clear Invasive Plants at Spackman-Davis Farm

CALN TWP — Caln Township is calling on volunteers to help clear invasive plants from the wooded area behind the Spackman-Davis Farm in an effort to restore native trees and prepare the site for this year’s picnic. Overgrown with aggressive vines, shrubs, and non-native trees, the area requires hands-on cleanup to support its preservation.
The event will take place on Wednesday, April 2, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 3401 Kings Highway in Coatesville. Volunteers can participate for the full session or join for part of the evening. Those attending are encouraged to bring work gloves and loppers if available, as the work is best suited for adults and older children.
If inclement weather occurs, the cleanup will be rescheduled for April 3. More information is available by contacting [email protected].
Upper Uwchlan and Uwchlan Face Off in Month-Long Food Drive Challenge

UWCHLAN TWP — A community-driven competition between Upper Uwchlan Township and Uwchlan Township is underway this April, as both municipalities challenge each other to collect the most food donations for the Chester County Food Bank. Running from April 1 to April 30, the friendly contest aims to rally residents in the fight against food insecurity.
Donations can be dropped off at either the Upper Uwchlan Township Building in Chester Springs or the Uwchlan Township Building in Exton. The food bank has identified several high-need items, including canned tuna, chicken, soups, beans, and fruit, with a preference for non-glass packaging.
Organizers encourage community members to participate and help their township claim victory in the challenge while supporting families across Chester County. More information and a full list of needed items can be found at chestercountyfoodbank.org.
