Springton Manor Hosts Free Event for Rare Total Lunar Eclipse

GLENMOORE, PA — On March 14, skywatchers will have the rare opportunity to witness a total lunar eclipse at Springton Manor Farm in Glenmoore. The event, hosted by Chester County Parks + Preservation, will run from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., offering attendees a front-row seat to the celestial display as the moon darkens and turns red in what is often called a "blood moon." Ranger Goodeaux will guide the experience, providing insights into the phenomenon. Guests are encouraged to bring binoculars, telescopes, and warm blankets to fully enjoy the night. To maintain the farm’s peaceful setting, early arrival is recommended, and lighting should be kept to a minimum. Hot cocoa will be available to ward off the late-night chill. The event is free, but attendees must register in advance.

Former Payroll Clerk Admits to $600,000 Theft from Chester County Business

WEST CHESTER, PA — A former payroll clerk admitted in court Tuesday that he stole more than $600,000 from E & H Conveyors, a small agricultural business in Chester County, to fund a gambling addiction. Thomas Cahue Jr. manipulated payroll records to funnel company funds into his own accounts from 2017 to 2021, while the business owners unknowingly covered the losses from their own pockets. Cahue pleaded guilty to felony theft charges and was sentenced to up to 23 months in prison, followed by five years of probation. He must repay the full amount stolen, with an initial $100,000 payment made at sentencing. His attorney cited gambling and alcohol addiction, but the judge warned that failure to make restitution could lead to further incarceration.
