Southeast PA Counties Move Toward Renewable Energy

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester, Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties have launched a joint initiative to transition to 100% renewable energy for county operations by 2035. The Sustainable Energy Partnership of Southeast PA, which the counties formed to coordinate energy purchasing, has already begun securing electricity through the wholesale market to improve cost transparency and stability. The plan sets interim goals, with at least 25% renewable energy use by 2026 and 90% by 2032.

Rather than relying solely on renewable energy credits as they have in the past, county officials are exploring direct power purchase agreements with solar, wind, and hydroelectric projects. They also hope to encourage the development of new clean energy facilities in the Delaware Valley. In December, the governing board approved guidelines to expand the initiative, allowing municipalities, school districts, and other public agencies to join.

Experience the March Full Moon with a Night Hike at Wolf’s Hollow

ATGLEN, PA — On March 14, Wolf’s Hollow County Park will host a ranger-led night hike in honor of the Worm Moon, the March full moon named for the seasonal thaw that brings earthworms back to the surface. The moderate, two-mile hike offers a chance to experience the park’s trails under the moonlight, when nocturnal wildlife is most active.

The event, which is free and open to all ages, encourages participants to dress appropriately for the weather and bring a flashlight for visibility. Space is limited to 40 hikers, and advance registration is required. The group will meet at the park’s main parking lot at 7:30 p.m. before setting off on the guided trek.
