Alpacas, Education, and Open Space: The Urgent Push to Save Sugars Bridge Farm

WEST CHESTER, PA — Sugars Bridge Farm, a cornerstone of Chester County’s agricultural education, is in jeopardy. The 15-acre farm, home to Camp Barnyard, provides immersive farming experiences for over 300 families each summer, employing local staff and caring for a variety of animals. But an ownership dispute threatens its future, with one co-owner seeking to redirect the land’s use—a move that could lead to development, the displacement of animals, and the end of the camp.
In response, farm supporters are mounting a campaign to raise the necessary funds to secure full ownership, cover legal fees, and protect the land from development. The goal is to preserve the farm as an educational space where children can connect with nature, learn about sustainable farming, and develop an appreciation for agriculture.
To help, the community is encouraged to donate, sponsor an animal, and spread the word. Organizers emphasize that saving Sugars Bridge Farm is not just about preserving one property but about securing a legacy of farmland conservation and hands-on agricultural education for future generations.
Chester County’s Crisis Intervention Team Earns Silver Certification
WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program has earned Silver Certification from CIT International, recognizing its success in training law enforcement and public officials to respond effectively to behavioral health crises. With over 350 graduates, the program enhances de-escalation efforts and mental health awareness, positioning the county as a leader in crisis response.
