Route 30 Bypass Turns Costly as Potholes Disable Dozens of Vehicles
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A stretch of the Route 30 Bypass in Chester County has left dozens of drivers stranded in recent weeks as deep potholes have damaged tires and rims, leading to a surge in tow truck calls. In response, PennDOT dispatched repair crews on Tuesday, with plans to patch potholes throughout the week. However, for those already affected, the financial burden is significant, with some repairs expected to exceed $2,000. Motorists seeking reimbursement from the state must file a claim, though compensation is not guaranteed.
West Chester Police Seek Suspect in Theft of Nick Foles Jersey

WEST CHESTER, PA — A Nick Foles Super Bowl LII jersey, a prized piece of Philadelphia sports memorabilia, was stolen from a West Chester thrift shop on Friday afternoon. The jersey was taken from a mannequin in front of the G Spot Thrift Shop on East Market Street around 4:05 p.m., with surveillance footage capturing the suspect in the act.
West Chester police have released an image of the individual and are urging the public to assist in identifying them. The case is under investigation, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the West Chester PD.
Chester County Opens Micro Grant Applications to Boost Small Business Growth
WEST CHESTER, PA — Small businesses in Chester County can apply for up to $2,000 in funding through the New Business Champions Micro Grant Program, an initiative by the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC). The program, now in its fifth round, provides funding for professional services such as marketing, accounting, and human resources, offering businesses the support they need to grow and transition beyond the startup phase.
To qualify, businesses must have been established within the last five years, employ no more than 10 people, and be based in Chester County. Priority consideration is given to business owners from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Previous recipients of the program are not eligible to apply.
Applications open on February 17, 2025, and will be accepted until March 17, 2025. Funding availability is based on eligibility and an assessment of business needs conducted by the CCEDC Business Resource Center. The program is supported by the Chester County Workforce Development Board and Pennsylvania’s Department of Labor and Industry.
