High-Speed Chase Across Delaware Ends in Arrest of West Chester Man

Thomas Casey/DE State Police

WILMINGTON, DE — A high-speed chase across Delaware ended in the arrest of a West Chester man on Friday after he fled from police for more than 45 miles. The pursuit began when officers attempted to pull him over for driving with a bare rim. As state troopers joined the chase, debris from his vehicle damaged patrol cars, and two separate spike strip attempts failed as he swerved dangerously close to officers. The pursuit ended near Frederica when he crashed into a utility pole and attempted to flee on foot. Authorities say he resisted arrest and showed signs of impairment. He now faces multiple charges, including DUI, reckless endangerment, and assault, and is being held on a $50,877 cash bond.

Testing Water, Tracking Salt: Caln Township Tackles Road Salt Pollution

CALN TWP — As concerns grow over the environmental impact of road salt, Caln Township is exploring solutions to keep roads safe while minimizing harm to local waterways. Tests conducted in Valley Run, with support from Stroud Water Research Center, confirmed salt contamination, contributing to a larger regional study.

Residents can take action by ordering free freshwater test kits and participating in Winter Salt Week, a multistate effort to track salt pollution and advocate for responsible road salt use. Community leaders are also working with businesses and government agencies to address improper salt storage, a major source of contamination.
