PHILADELPHIA, PA β A medical jet transporting a child patient, her mother, and four crew members crashed into a residential area of Northeast Philadelphia on Friday evening, sending a fireball into the sky and engulfing several homes. The Learjet 55, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, had just taken off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport when it suddenly disappeared from radar and plunged to the ground near Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue.
All six people aboard were from Mexico, and the flight was en route to Tijuana with a planned stop in Missouri. Officials have not confirmed any survivors, and it remains unclear whether there were casualties on the ground.
The crash, captured on doorbell and security cameras, showed a white streak before the plane erupted in flames. Nearby residents reported feeling the ground shake and hearing an explosion. The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation, with officials expected to arrive at the site Saturday.
The incident follows a deadly midair collision in Washington, D.C., earlier in the week, adding to growing concerns over aviation safety. Read more from the AP
Teen Suspects in Coatesville Shooting Face Attempted Murder Charges
COATESVILLE, PA β Two of the three suspects charged in the shooting of a school bus in Coatesville have chosen to forgo their preliminary hearings, allowing their cases to move directly to Chester County Common Pleas Court. The third suspectβs attorney requested a delay, pushing his hearing to April.
The incident, which occurred in October near Hope Avenue and Charles Street, involved multiple gunshots fired at a school bus carrying students home from Coatesville Area Senior High School. No one was injured, but the attack sparked concern over youth violence in the area. Surveillance footage helped detectives identify the suspects, who were later taken into custody.
Authorities allege that 17-year-old Gabriel Johnson fired at the bus while 20-year-old Jose Medina and 18-year-old Jaki White-Marshall were at the scene. The shooting is believed to have been retaliation for a fight that took place at the high school two days earlier. A fourth suspect, seen in the footage, remains unidentified. The suspects face a range of charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Multiple Arrests Reported as ICE Conducts Raids in Chester County
OXFORD, PA β ICE agents have arrested multiple individuals in Chester County as part of targeted immigration enforcement efforts. While the exact number of detentions remains unknown, reports indicate that several local residents have been affected. County officials acknowledged the likelihood of increased federal enforcement but emphasized that local law enforcement is not involved. The arrests have heightened concerns among immigrant communities, particularly those working in the agricultural sector.
