Chester County Braces for Arctic Cold After Foot of Snow
DOWNINGTOWN, PA โ Chester County is facing an extended period of winter weather after a weekend storm deposited up to a foot of snow across the region, followed by a prolonged Arctic cold snap that will keep the precipitation frozen for days.
Snowfall totals varied across the county, with Malvern recording the highest accumulation at 12.5 inches. West Chester saw 10.4 inches, Phoenixville received 10.1 inches, Coatesville recorded 10.8 inches, and Parkesburg measured 11.6 inches. The all-day Sunday storm began with light, dry snow when temperatures hovered around 9 to 10 degrees in the morning, then transitioned to sleet and freezing rain later in the day as a warm air layer aloft melted falling snow before it refroze upon hitting the frigid ground.
Area Municipalities End Snow Emergency Orders

DOWNINGTOWN, PA โ Multiple municipalities in the Downingtown area lifted their snow emergency declarations Monday afternoon, marking the end of heightened emergency protocols enacted during last week's winter storm.
Downingtown Borough concluded its snow emergency at 3 p.m. Monday, restoring normal parking regulations and travel conditions for residents. The borough had maintained emergency restrictions since the storm hit the region last Thursday.
Caln Township followed suit earlier in the day, with Board of Commissioners President Joshua Young officially rescinding both the disaster emergency and snow and ice emergency declarations at 1 p.m. Monday.
